The way Tahomaru's manga/1969 character arc was handled was pretty justified. He was as much of a trash bag as Daigo and went out like one too. But don't forget this version isn't just adapting the original anime and manga. It's also including parts from the Blood Will Tell game and the live action, which handled Tahomaru differently.

Question SPOILER During Hyakkimaru and Tahomaru's fight to the death, Hyakkimaru mentioned that Tahomaru "lacked" something, similar to how he originally lacked his body. Tahomaru lacked something in his left chest, which I assume is the heart.

I think Tahomaru in the 2019 anime has had one of the most touching psychological evolutions ever seen. It seems to me that the demon's blow when Tahomaru returns the eyes to Hyakkimaru was fatal to him and caused his death.
